Helena finished her education in 2008 and completed units in Biology, Geology, Mathematics, English, German, French, History, Art, Philosophy and of course sport.

Travelling was always an important aspect of Helena’s life. As a child Helena travelled a lot with her family and later in life started to explore other countries with friends and family.

Helena’s travel adventures eventually gave her the opportunity to work in countries she visited such as a race horse farm in Ireland for a short period of time. She then later returned to work there for a number of years.

After her experience in Ireland, Helena went to Sweden and then to Australia. Helena has travelled and worked in Australia for several years. She has to return to Germany shortly. Her experience and the tough life working in the outback, managing farms, breaking in brumbies (wild horses) is not what is required in the Antarctic but her experience made her mentally very strong and that is what is needed to take part in the expedition.

Helena’s first skiing experience was during a school excursion and kept this experience with her until she fell in love with snowboarding in 2008 which she considers a lot of fun. Helena knows that skiing or snowboarding as fun will not be enough and has taken up a serious training schedule to be able to qualify for the Antarctic Expedition.

I am sure Helena will succeed in qualifying and I am looking forward to have Helena on my young explorers’ team.
