The Expedition
Five teams of five members will each ski 800 kms from different points of the compass, beginning at 84 degrees south and finishing at the South Pole. The journey will take 80 days, during which expeditioners can expect storms, extreme cold and the challenge of white outs, crevassed ground and sheer hard work. Each skier will haul a sled with food, fuel, a tent and communication gear.
The international team is made up of experienced adventurers from Alaska, Australia, Wales and Germany. As anyone would know the Antarctic and the North Pole are among the most remote, cold, windy and the most unforgiving places in the world. This is the reason we gathered the best qualified team available in the world.

Young Adventurers Lead the Expedition Home
Ten young adventurers will be flown to the Antarctic in December 2011. They will have been selected during the training camp attended by the qualifiers of the Antarctic Challenge International selection system. At previous camps they will have learned survival skills, teamwork and gained an insight into their existing skills and abilities. At the Base Camp in the Antarctic we will finalise their training so they will be ready to for their big adventure.
After a few days of acclimatization in the Antarctic, the team will be flown to their starting destination and travel for 80 days to the South Pole, pulling their own sled, navigating and simply living the experience.
