Luke is a young man who is eager to give any opportunity given to him his fullest attention. Luke believes that he is an honest, enthusiastic, and reliable person. He is extremely fit and has achieved many sporting awards, not only for his sporting ability but also for good sportsmanship.

Luke is easy to get along with and can work either individually or in a team environment. He is keen to learn and do not have any problems in taking direction.

Luke has successfully completed a 2 year course in Outdoor Education. This course has taken him on many outdoor camps which certain skills were required of us. These included: Rationing food, Basic Survival skills, Abseiling, First Aid, hiking long distances, Navigation skills, and has achieved his bronze medallion.

Mr Toby James Zeller

Toby is a young man with clear goals. He is looking for employment in a field that he has always had some interest in, sports and recreation. Toby has throughout his childhood been involved in many different sports, including soccer, athletics, and rowing just to name a few. Toby has undertaken studies during his last two years at school which will assist him in gaining his desired career.

He has successfully studied physical education – learning about the human body, he has also taken human biology and outdoor education. Toby is a fit young man and eager to undertake more learning in this area. Toby has been congratulated on his compassion for other people and believes that he is a reliable, honest, trustworthy young person.

Thomas Alexander Nielsen

Mr Thomas Alexander Nielsen

Thomas Alexander Nielsen is another young enthusiastic person who is willing to engage in some hard and extraordinary training.

Over the last two years Thomas has been focused on alpine climbing and has joined several expeditions to Kebnekaise in Sweden, Glittertind in Norway and Mont Blanc in France. Thomas has learned a lot through this experience like climbing, alpine survival, psychology, physics, expedition management and has a huge respect and love for the outdoors.

Teshil Prashin Gangaram

Mr Teshil Prashin Gangaram

Our 5th selected young explorer is Teshil Prashin Gangaram.

Teshil is from Mauritius but is living and studying at the University of Singapore.

Teshil`s initial experience and qualification is the reason I have selected him for the opportunity to participate in the training and the selection of our young explorers. Some of Teshil`s achievements are outlined below:

  • A 25 day technical mountaineering course in Indian Himalaya in May 2009 (with load of more than 20kg):
  • Knots, walking on snow, self and crevasse rescue, Prussiking, belaying, ice climbing, abseiling, altitude cooking, knowledge of mountain weather, danger and sickness and peaks summitted during technical Mountaineering course:
  • Climbed Mt Shitidhar (5294m)
  • Climbed Mt Friendship (5286m)
  • Second longest expedition: 5 days Gunung Tahan in Malaysia (2187m) with 25kg load
  • Has done several other non-altitude climbs and hikes; and
  • Certified by the Royal Life Saving Society (Singapore) to do CPR and also completed a course of mental First Aid.
